The Wisdom of HeartMath

February 2024

“Dare to connect with your heart. You will be lifting not only yourself and those you love and care about, but also the world in which you live.”– Doc Childre, HeartMath Founder

For the majority of my life, I have been afraid to connect with my heart. There’s FEELINGS that live there, and if there’s one thing I didn’t want to do, it was FEEL. This was probably never truer than when I was caring for Mom during her dementia battle. There were a lot of painful feelings, a lot of stress, and lots of grief. I found that making decisions was a struggle and that my reactions were often out of proportion to the situation presenting itself. I was scattered and irritable, with no idea how to reign in my reactions.

I learned about HeartMath while attending Mom’s meditation group. The facilitator taught the residents some HeartMath techniques, and I could see what a profound impact this practice had on Mom. Often tortured by anxiety and the delusions and hallucinations that were the hallmark of her dementia, Mom found solace in the meditation group and HeartMath. I knew I had to learn more so I could teach myself and then teach my clients.

What exactly is HeartMath? According to https://www.heartmath.com

As you bring your physical, mental, and emotional systems into coherent alignment, you begin to experience increased access to your heart’s intuitive guidance.

Tuning into your heart’s wisdom creates a profound shift within that helps you approach situations with more emotional balance, compassion, clarity, and personal confidence.”

I like to call this the wisdom of HeartMath. When we are in coherence, we RESPOND rather than REACT. This shift can be the difference in relationships, decisions, and even our own personal development as we navigate life’s stressors.

Once I learned HeartMath, I became certified in the techniques because I felt strongly that this consistent state of coherence can help people move from a place of inner peace and confidence, no matter what is happening around them. You become a strong tree, unshakeable in the storm but also tuned into and acknowledging and accepting feelings. As the storm passes through and you focus on your heart-centered breathing, you emerge stronger and with clarity to make the next right choice in whatever situation you find yourself in.

This month of February, when you complete the Wellness Survey (https://mustardseedswellness.com/wellness-survey/) and set up your free initial Zoom meeting with me, you will receive a free digital HeartMath guide that will teach you a “Quick Coherence” breathing technique designed to bring your body, mind, and soul into coherence quickly. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to walk your wellness path in coherence, wisdom, and peace.
